Through ALIEN MODE, the contexts surrounding artists' practices are articulated to guide an understanding of the dialogue between artworks, space, everyday life, and personal experience. Through curatorial research, interpretation, and long-term engagement, ALIEN MODE helps collectors develop their own ways of seeing, enabling artworks to remain present in daily life and foster new perceptions and connections over time.

ALIEN Art Centre asks: “How is the work situated within the context of contemporary art?”

ALIEN MODE extends the museum's curatorial thinking beyond its walls, responding to the spatial conditions, cultural contexts, and communities of different sites while reconsidering the relationships between artworks, spaces, and audiences. Each off-site curatorial project is an ongoing exploration of how art can become part of everyday life.

When artworks encounter new environments, curating moves beyond institutional research and interpretation to become a way of understanding space, experiencing life, and connecting people. In this way, the cultural perspectives developed by the museum are translated into tangible encounters across different settings.

A Translator Between Artists and Non-Art Industries

ALIEN MODE supports artists' long-term creative practices and facilitates the translation and realisation of original ideas within industry.

Beginning with the core of an artist's practice, the platform brings together research and conceptual translation to extend artistic perspectives into spaces, objects, collections, brands, and industry collaborations. Rather than treating a single exhibition or commission as an endpoint, ALIEN MODE seeks to initiate sustained dialogue around artistic ideas and develop appropriate, enduring forms of practice.

Throughout this process, ALIEN MODE helps collaborators understand each artist's creative methodology and cultural value, while opening new possibilities for artists to engage with different industries and contexts. These relationships expand the scale and scope of artistic practice and establish a foundation for mutual understanding, shared development, and long-term collaboration.
